Go to Washington Academy in Rockford Illinois!!!! We won't be bored or uninterested! I lent a copy of Repunzel's Revenge to a friend and she wouldn't stop reading it. Plus, I've read Calamity Jack so many times I lost count. So, come to the 7th grade in the 2011-2012 school year... Please? : )

Book signings are a strange thing. Luckily, I did most of the handful I've done in my hometown, so all my high school friends showed up. Thank goodness for Facebook! After that article came out in the Onion the other day, I had to blog about this too. http://joelleanthony.com/daily-writings/not-every-signing-is-sro/

Oh my goodness! I walked in late to the Logan book signing and realized what I was missing--the fabulous event in the auditorium! But it was such a pleasure and honor to meet you. Thank you so much for coming!

I learned this as well but am still no less shocked. A few months ago PJ Haarsma came to King's English. I was so excited to see him again, after having met him at particular event in Phoenix the year before. I got there early and wore sensible shoes because I knew there would be an hours worth of waiting in line. But alas, lucky me, I was the ONLY one who showed up. I was horrified and completely shocked that I was the lone book nerd attending the event but more so for him. I knew he would much rather be home with his family. But I had him all to myself for one glorious hour and he was so nice to answer all my questions and he even asked for my autograph when I offered him my first review copy of my first YA novel. What a nice guy!

Aw, Shannon. I'd probably cry, to be honest. Which sounds silly. But I would. But I'm glad you're able to laugh about it- because look, that happened, and now you're speaking to 1000 people. And that's great.

(also, if you did an event here, I would definitely be there, even if no one else was. Just sayin'.)

Remember about 7 years ago at ALA in Orlando when you were at your publisher's booth and were signing ARCs of Enna Burning? No one was at your booth, but there was that one middle school librarian who gushed about LOVING Goose Girl for 45 minutes and met both your husband and your first child?

That was me.

Keyla

That's really thinking out of the box. Tnakhs!

Just to let you know...I would have attended every single one of those events. I also would cheer, applaud, and listen. You're REALLY an inspiration to me as a young author! Keep writing!

reading these stories made me just a tiny bit sick to my stomach. maybe it will be okay with me if I never, ever, ever get published... 0_0

I was the girl who stayed with her father when all others went to the gallery, and I have never regretted it. That was one of the best days of my life. Thank you so much for staying, Shannon!

To me, you are a rock star: mother and author. It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but I've had at least two dreams where I get to meet you. :) If you ever come to northern California, you can bet that I'll be first in line to meet you. Thank you for your honesty on being an author and mother.
