This week (and probably into next) I'm being interviewed on The Yellowbelly Show. Nathan Hale (no relation) does his fabulous weekday webcomics, and this week Yellowbelly has his own show. The cartoon version of me really is saying the lines I gave him. I have to say, it's not easy to respond to Yellowbelly's questions. The stutters and pauses are quite real. (And the "poo" line is a nod to Dean and my appearance on The Today Show.) Nate continues to astound. We got high res proffs of calamity jack this week and they are GORGEOUS! He is an artist to be reckoned with.
I have new events up on my events page. The tour dates and locations are missing times--more info to come. Two upcoming events I want to pimp: Writing for Charity, round 2! Those who went last year can attest, it was pretty cool. And we've learned stuff from last year's, so it should be smoother. Northern Utahns rejoice, it will be in Ogden this year at the Treehouse Museum. Come for a halfday writing workshop with some pretty amazing authors, and know your money all goes to the Treehouse Museum's awesome community outreach and literacy programs. Register here.
Also, I'll be at the Orem B&N on August 26, 7pm. Come throw breadcrumbs at me and laugh. Okay, I have to go to the airport now and pick up Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Robin Wasserman, and Jo Knowles. Was there a reason to say that? No, just wanted you to think I'm cool.

Always so many exciting things you're involved in!!! Love to hear about them. Great job!!!
p.s. I've never been a first comment before. That's exciting too. :)

I'm so sad-I can't come to B&N on that day because I have a final dress rehearsal. :P Can I send my books with a friend?
Yellowbelly comics are awesome. Loved seeing you there!

I am so going to try to be at one of the PA events. And it should totally be possible. I just have to find someone to drive me...(Darn being at college without a car!)

I'm thrilled that you're coming to the National Book Festival. I've been going since it started, and it's a great event. You're the top draw for me this year!

Sigh...nothing in California. Come on, our weather's so nice! Sure, we have smog and traffic and our state is practically bankrupt...but...but..we have Disneyland! :-)
Anyway, thanks for keeping us posted on your schedule. Maybe I can talk my husband into a spontaneous vacation. I've always wanted to go to Vermont...

You are cool, Shannon, no matter who you pick up at the airport (although those are some neat authors). Can hardly wait for Forest Born!!!:)

I wish so much I could come to the writing for charity event! Last year's was fabulous. You're doing so many great things with your talents, Shannon!

Thank You, Shannon! If you tour California again anytime soon, I'd be happy to stop by and give you a pie.
AHHHH! A fellow coastal! I totally concur with ^Shannon M. (but without the husband part...)

Oh wow, the events page just exploded. And to think I only checked it a couple of days ago...
But I noticed there is nothing scheduled for The King's English. That's so sad. I was really looking forward to a Forestborn release party.
Shannon M - your comment is priceless. It made my day.

No stop in Arizona? Sad. Come say hi to Stephenie Meyer and do some signing while you're here! :)

Are you ever going to come visit the South? I always miss out on stuff like this and I would love the chance to get your autograph.
Posted by: Lessie | August 14, 2009 at 03:15 PM
Okay, you got me. You're so cool even ice cubes are jealous.
And yes, that is a ridiculously cheesy line I got from Facebook Flair :]
Posted by: Chelsea | August 14, 2009 at 05:17 PM
Oh, and I agree you should visit the south. Jacksonville, Florida in particular.

*sigh* Nothing in upstate NY. You know, whenever someone says New York you always think "big city" and "pollution" and "place where all the famous people come". Us upstate New Yorkians always get left out. No one ever comes to upstate New York, where its actually really beautiful and extremely country-ish and non pollution-ish!!!!! Sorry, that was completely random. I get carried away quite easily. Anyway, have fun!!!!!

Oh, and one more thing!!!!!!! Only 26 more days till September!!!!!!! Which means my birthday!!!!! And the release of Forest Born!!!!!! And that I'll probably be getting Forest Born for my birthday!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

I am SO SO excited that you are coming to the Orem B&N. I just saw a sign posted there today! (me doing a little jig/dance).

Um, so pretty much I'm freaked out. I signed up for the writing for charity event. That scares the heeby jeebies out of me, because only two people have ever read anything I've written on my own before... but there I was, credit card in hand, website in front of my face, and I couldn't help myself. I'm so excited! And scared! Did I mention that already?
I just went to Disneyland. And I've got to say, despite all of California's faults, they've got somethin going on there with that beach and their amusement parks. It's the Happiest Place on Earth, they say. :)

Writing for Charity was very cool last year. I will never forget what Mette Ivie Harrison said about why she writes - the whole Stirling Scholar story - "It feeds my ego." I'm laughing as I'm typing this. Brandon Mull and a certain M. C. were pretty funny too.
I checked out the events and noticed you don't have a "Forest Born" party going on at The King's English. You just left it out because you don't have a date yet, right? I was going to make the drive with one of my nieces because my Bayern books have actually seen more wear and tear at her hands than they have my own. "The Goose Girl" is her favorite book. But then her mom (my sister) wanted to go too. And somehow word got out. Now all of my sisters and a good number of my nieces and my own daughter think they want to go too. You have a lot of fans in my family. No pressure.

Your so cool and its cool that you get to pick up other authors and hang with them. Are you ever coming out to Nothern Ca ?? Sounds like fun

I really liked the Actor and the Housewife; even though I found much siliarity between it and Anita Stansfield's Jason Wolfe series. Is there a chance of a sequel that will bring Becky and Felix together; I was not particularly thrilled with the ending and felt Becky is still very confused about what she really "FEELS" for Felix?
