HOLY COW! What a way to launch our baby. rapunzel's revenge is the latest pick on the Today Show's Al's Book Club for Kids! Today after interviewing Eoin Colfer, they announced that our little sweetie baby is next month's pick. So that means...Dean and I are going. In September. To New York. To be on the Today Show.
AAAAAAHHHHH!
I'm so thrilled. I'm so honored. I'm so happy that this wonderful happiness fell on a book that I share with my cute husband Dean and awesome illustrator Nathan Hale (no relation). In celebration, my publisher has moved up the release date, and so rapunzel's revenge is on sale...NOW! Now now now! Yay!
We put up a rapunzel section on the site, with more to come. This book was such a pleasure to work on, it has already brought us so much joy. And you always worry before a book comes out--"I like it. It's my kind of read. But will anyone else?" And I'll admit with this one I've been especially anxious, because Nathan Hale (no relation) worked so hard on the illustrations, poured so much life and time into this book, I really, really wanted it to pay off for him. To be worthwhile. And now to have such an honor slapped on it even before it's released. I'm ecstatic! Elated! Overflowing with the fruit punch of human kindness!
Also, we're going to NYC next month. To be on the Today Show...
AAAAHHHH!

Well I'll be swigger-jiggered and hung out to dry.
Waaaaaaaaa hoooooooooo!
Yeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaa!
Congrats Shannon, Dean, and Nate!

Crap.
Now?
Um. I'll be very busy this weekend, working on our project.
I suck.
But you should have it soon-ish.
I suck.
But a fantastic and over-sized congratulations to H3.
Did I mention I suck? Yeah. 'Cause I do.

Wow, congratulations! I hope you'll let us know when you'll be on so we non-TV-watchers can break out the box!
Posted by: Mrs. Mordecai | August 01, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Congratulations! Sheesh, that's incredible. And well deserved. Of course this kind of success for Dean's first book will likely make him completely intolerable, but will it cure his pessimism? You'll have to keep us posted.
Seriously, that's so awesome, I'm positively thrilled for you guys. Woohoo!

Wow! Shannon, this is wonderful! I don't think I've ever actually watched the Today Show, or any other television that is on during the day -- but I can't wait to see THIS! Yay! (Oh, and I just started reading Dean's blog, and what a really, really funny man you are married to!)
(Sorry to hear about Maggie's leg.) :-(
(GLAD to hear Forest Born is going well! I love reading your posts about writing, and -- sorry -- knowing it isn't all tra-la-la all the time. It is good for the rest of us to know that!)
xoxo

I was tickled pink to get a message from Amazon that the release had been moved up (I pre-ordered my copy MONTHS ago), and now I'm especially happy to hear the reason. Way to go! and mucho mucho congratulations! I will have to set my VCR (can you believe some people still own them?) to record as I will be at work and won't be able to see it live. [sigh]
Again, nice going you three (I'm including Nathan Hale [no relation] in this congrats).

Ok, maybe I'm the only one, but I seriously just flipped a lid when I scrolled through the paperdolls. First of all, they're hilarious, second of all--you called one the "shindig" dress and being a HUGE Firefly fan, I'm assuming that reference is intentional.
Go BROWNCOATS!

The book came to my front door yesterday; I love pre-orders! I've read it, my 10 year old daughter is half way through and my 7 year old son is begging to start! We've loved it!

Not too shabby, Shannon!
When I used to tune in to TV, a few aeons back, The Today Show was the one series I watched.
Let us know when to dust off the sets and adjust the bunny ears!

.
In related news, I heard of this book just in time to mention it here (http://www.motleyvision.org/?p=489). Not as big a deal as Al Roker, of course, but still: if you have a chance to travel a few URLs over before New York, we'ld appreciate you input. Next time I'll be trying to predict the future (and maybe you have some insight?).
Thanks.
